Thanks to everyone who made our Open House a success! Rita is honored to be in her 7th year in business, and that is only possible with the support of our loyal customers. The fine estate of jewelry we had on loan was absolutely fabulous, so much so that we are working with the family to get the second half of the estate sometime in October, so stay tuned. Thanks also to Hook & Sling Jazz for playing both Friday and Saturday. They are truly talented musicians, and we plan to have them play for us and our customers again.

Powder Room Project

The first floor half bath is near completed at the Schulte residence, and it turned out great! Unfortunately in the chaos, we did not get a BEFORE shot... let's just say we had a 1970s sink, old toliet, layers of lenolium flooring, ucky wallpaper, and 1980s tiling half way up the wall. First we stripped all the wallpaper (well Lauren and Grant stripped it!), then Rita demoed all the tile, we removed the sink and toilet...

Then we put it all back together! We added beadboard and trim, new hexagon tile, a beautiful dark paint color, new white trim paint, new light, new pipes, new pedestal sink and matching toilet, new faucet, new mirror - quite the project! Here is a during shot and an after shot...

Stripping Floors in Olcott

We told you we would blog a bit more about Rita & Chris's new project, so here you have it. The very first undertaking on literally the day of the move was stripping and refinishing all the wood floors on the first floor (about 1,800 square feet worth!). Believe it or not, each room (dining, living, family, foyer) were all a different color with varying levels of old and new stain and polyerethane. A previous owner must of tried to refinish one room at a time. It took some extra work and man hours to undo the damage and unevenness - about four days total. They are now natural, enviromentally friendly (no stain or poly. was used - instead a new more earth and lung friendly product was used), and absolutely pristine. Here are some "DURING" shots. East Lake Road Project

As many of you may know, owners Chris & Rita moved into a wonderful old Victorian Home on Lake Ontario. Now don't be confused - Asti Antiques is still in the same location on Niagara Falls Blvd. Everyone was very excited to get to work on the old estate, and it has been about a month and a half since the move has been official.
So far Rita & Chris (with the help of many) have:

- stripped and refinished all the wood floors on the first floor

-painted the family room, back porch, and living room

- painted both hallways up and downstairs

-painted two of the four bedrooms (one being used as den)

-hung five or so antique lighting fixtures with accenting hand painted medallions

-ripped out carpet on main staircase

-ripped out carpet in two of four bedrooms

-painted upstairs bath & installed new temporary vainty (bathroom will be rehauled later)

-deep cleaned much of the woodwork and windows in house

-started to strip entire main staircase (was and still is partially painted an awful white)

-carpeted upstairs hallway & two bedrooms

-removed wallpaper from dining room and powder room

-wallpapered main staircase wall and re-wallpapered dining room in old Victorian paper

-painted ceilings in dining room and main foyer

-removed and begun cleaning and stripping very HEAVY radiators

-begun an extensive Landscaping project - which includes a complete rehaul of all the exisiting landscaping

All this does not even include the massive move (in which things had to be moved twice from the barn into the house once the floors were refinished) - as well as many precious antiques up to the third floor and a turn of the century Chickering Grand Piano.

We will have many pictures to come, many before and afters - as well as more projects as they are completed. We will also be adding in pictures and projects that will and have been done on Asti Antiques, another amazing Victorian home we have been renovating that houses our Antique & Jewelry Business.
